About
Born and raised in Texas, Christine Fox creates mixed-media artwork in Saratoga Springs, NY, where she lives with her family and two rascally long-haired miniature dachshunds, Finn and Tippecanoe.
A lifelong creator whose hands love to keep moving, Christine's recent artwork combines original photography, acrylic paint, and hand embroidery.
Christine's mixed-media artwork explores the inspiration of celebration, curiosity, nostalgia, and place, blending her childhood-developed art skills with years of travel and daily adventures.
Her pieces honor many happy hours playing with textiles alongside her mom and grandmother, and the gift of (film!) cameras and summer art projects with her dad, an old-school art major turned educator.
Having enjoyed art and science in college, Christine has a Bachelor's and Master's in Geological Sciences from The University of Texas at Austin, for which she created a multitude of maps and tiny 3-D models of ancient natural environments. You can check out those 400 pages in the geology library or ask to borrow one of her copies from her living room stack.
She's continually inspired by travel (vital for a geologist and artist), photography, and world cultures, having lived in Grenoble, France; Singapore; and Dresden, Germany, where she studied languages and photography. She has exhibited photography in a group show in Singapore.
Mindful that, "how you live your days is how you live your (one wild and precious) life," Christine also loves to garden, play guitar, and run near and far, but mostly 5ks. She completed a quarter marathon on a volcano in Iceland to celebrate her studio grand opening. New series ideas will arise, so pop your email address below to receive updates.
